Welcome to the official Another Unnecessary Tournament website! This site will be used for info, updates, and more relating to the tournament.

Good question!

Another Unnecessary Tournament is a music tournament inspired by SiIvaGunner's King For A Day Tournament.
16 characters are placed in a bracket, with each one representing a different category of music. These "source lists" can range from Video Game OSTs, artist discographies, to even entire genres of music. When only one fighter is left standing, we'll release a plethora of remixes, mashups, & more based on their arsenal... and YOU get to vote on who will take home the crown!

But that's not all! In their duels, the main roster may also choose to use Assist Trophies—non-votable bonus characters that give them some extra flair in their performances! These characters may even get their own solo content on special occasions...so it's important to mention them!

So many options! The amount of possible combinations featuring characters from the main roster and assist roster...it's nearly endless. But let's not dwell on hypotheticals, let's get into the combinations we have seen! It's time to talk about the main event of the tournament—the Bracket!

16 challengers enter the ring...but only 1 will be the CHAMPION.

ROUND 1, MATCH 8: VOCANOID vs LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON

If two of your favorites are going against each other in the first round, things may seem grim...but losing the first round doesn't mean it's over!

That's right, the tournament is double elimination! The losers of Winners Round 1, 2, and 3 will get a 2nd chance in the Losers Bracket...but if they lose there, they're out for good. When only 4 characters are left, the tournament switches back to a single elimination format, with the final match being between the winners of Winners Finals & Losers Finals.

The character sourcelists are promises for the content of their prizes, but promises can only go so far... Are there any other ways to prove that a character's worth voting for? And just how exactly will their prize sound like? Well, that's where our promotional music comes in! Through the efforts of our wonderfully talented music team, we've uploaded over 300 arrangements & mashups featuring just about anything you could ask for! Ranging from simple to covers to ambitious mega-mashups, they can represent one, two, or—in special cases—several characters!
